Books Are My Bag
Books are our bag too!
Having just returned from London Book Fair 2013 we’d like to share a fantastic campaign with our fellow book lovers!
During LBF 2013 an announcement was made about the Books Are My Bag campaign. It has been devised by M & C Saatchi and is entirely based on a single, simple, very effective message: that the passion for books and bookshops is a precious part of our national heritage and something that we should cherish, celebrate and promote. It is a campaign of perfect solidarity:all booksellers (whether they belong to chains or independats) and publishers are uniting with one voice to celebrate the pleasures and cultural importance of the high street bookshop.
Speakers at the LBF event inlcuded Tim Godfray, CEO of the Booksellers Association, Richard Mollet, CEO of the Publishers Association, Patrick Neale, current President of the Booksellers Association, James Lowther, Founding Partner of M & C Saatchi and Gail Rebuck, Chair and CEO of Random House.
An impressive number of publishers and retailers have already pledged their support for the campaign, including Random House, Hachette, Penguin, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, Bloomsbury, the Faber Alliance, Waterstones, W H Smith, Easons and some famous independant booksellers, among them Foyles, Jaffé and Neale and Mr B’s Emporium.
The campaign will feature strong branding and a very distinctive prop: a cloth bag with the workds BOOKS ARE MY BAG printed on it in neon ornage capitals. These bags will be given to customers by bookshops across the county when the campaign is launched on 14th September.
What a fantastic way of collobartion within the industry! We support the campaign 100%!
